송주원(1973년, 서울)은 1997년 아르코예술극장 소극장에서 발표한 〈가고싶지않았어〉로 안무가로서 첫 작품을 선보인 이래, 현대무용을 기반으로 퍼포먼스와 무빙이미지를 오가는 안무적 실험을 지속해 오고 있다. 특정 장소에 대한 리서치를 바탕으로 매체성·관객성·신체성이 교차하는 시간과 공간을 재구축한다. 감각 경험을 안무하는 방법론을 퍼포먼스, 전시, 상영의 형태로 풀어낸다. 변형되고 사라지는 도시의 장소를 기반으로 한 열다섯 편의 도시공간 무용 프로젝트 《풍정.각(風情.刻)》 시리즈(2014–)부터 이어진, 카메라와 스크린을 관통하는 안무에 대한 질문은 가상과 실재의 장소를 중첩하는 〈20▲△(이십삼각삼각, 2022)〉·〈바스락(2024)〉 등 일련의 VR/MR 퍼포먼스를 경유하며, 다중의 리얼리티 속 프레이밍과 스페이싱에 대한 탐구로 심화되고 있다. 이외의 주요 작업으로 〈뾰루지·물집·사마귀·점(2021)〉, 〈휘이잉(2021)〉, 〈나는 사자다(2019)〉 등이 있다.

Ever since presenting her first choreographic work, I Didn't Want to Go, at the Arko Arts Theater Small Hall in 1997, Joowon Song has continuously pursued choreographic experiments that move between performance and moving image, grounded in contemporary dance. Based on research into specific sites, she reconstructs times and spaces in which mediality, spectatorship, and corporeality intersect. Her methodology of choreographing sensory experience unfolds across performance, exhibition, and screening. Her ongoing inquiry into choreography that passes through the camera and screen began with PungJeong.Gak (風情.刻) (2014–), a series of fifteen urban-space dance projects based on places in the city that are transforming and disappearing. This inquiry has since developed through a series of VR/MR performances—including 20▲△ (Twenty Thirty Triangle) (2022) and Rustling (2024), which overlap virtual and real places—and has deepened into an exploration of framing and spacing within multiple realities. Her other major works include Pimple. Blister. Wart. Mole (2021), hwi-i-ing (2021), and I Am a Lion (2019).
